Can my vehicle tow the caravan?

Our Caravans have full details of the ATM (Weight of the van loaded with water, gas and belongings) in our caravan specifications, please contact your vehicle manufacturer or tow ball installer to determine if your vehicle is able to tow the caravan you would like to hire.

do i need electric brakes installed in my vehicle?

Our Caravans have electric brakes  so you need to have an electric brake controller installed in your vehicle. If your vehicle does not have one then we have a portable electric brake controller which you can hire as an extra in some circumstances. Please contact us with your vehicle details.

what type of trailer plug is suitable to tow the vans?

Most of our vans have 12 pin plugs but we have adapters to suit other types of plugs like 7 pin round or 7 pin flat trailer plugs.

will the fridge in the caravan work while I'm driving?

You cannot run the fridge if you have either a 7 pin round or 7 pin flat plug in your vehicle. If you have a 12 pin trailer plug or Anderson plug installed in your vehicle then most of our vans have the facility for the fridge to work while driving. Please contact us for more details.  You cannot run the fridge on gas while driving!

is the caravan supplied with gas?

We do not have an extra fee for gas but there will be at least one bottle full of gas.  When you run out of gas you are required to refill the bottle at your own expense.

can i free camp?

Yes, you can camp somewhere where there is no power or water and still have lights in the van (runs from battery charged by the solar panel on the roof) and hot water by gas (if applicable) and also the fridge will run on gas.  Most of our vans have two water tanks ranging from 60 litres to 240 litres depending on which van you are hiring. 

can i still hire if I have never towed a van before?

Some of our vans are only suitable for experienced towers with vehicles that are set up for towing.  If you have had experience towing a trailer and reversing it then we have lighter and smaller vans which would be suitable for you. Please send us an enquiry.

what age do i have to be to hire a van?

The minimum age to hire a van is 25 years old with an open drivers licence and the maximum age is 75 years old.

can i take the caravan offroad?

No, our terms and conditions specifies no unsealed roads apart from a short distance up to 10 km from the main road to a camping area.

what do i need to take with me?

You will need your own bedding including pillows, sheets and blankets.  Also your own towels, clothing, personal items and food.  Our vans are fitted out with basic cooking and kitchen equipment only.  

is the caravan insured?

Yes, all of our caravans are fully insured. The bond payment that you give will be used as the excess on the insurance policy if it is necessary to make a claim.
